NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING

 

POSITION TITLE:     QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

LOCATION:               ARCTIC STAR

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Administer the quality control program for Crab, Herring, Salmon and Cod.  Overall responsibility includes assuring product quality and plant sanitation onboard seafood processing vessel. Full time seasonal position. Reports to Vessel Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·                    Ensure full implementation and maintenance of HACCP and Sanitation Programs, including training of QA Staff in areas pertinent to CCP monitoring and compliance with GMP’s. 

·                    Supervise and direct QA techs in monitoring production processes, including finished product quality and plant sanitation.

·                    Maintain complete and accurate QA records, including all records associated with freezer temperatures, product core temperatures, product handling, grading, glazing, sizing, and case-up.

·                    Complete and submit product variance reports.

·                    Monitor plant sanitation and HACCP records in accordance with ADEC and FDA regulations, and advise Vessel Manager of concerns.

·                    Prepare for, and effect compliance with facility inspections conducted by ADEC, FDA, and EPA.

·                    Participate in employee training to ensure Plant Sanitation and Employee Hygiene standards are effectively communicated to all Production staff.

·                    Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·                    Min. 2 years QA experience in Salmon and Crab processing preferred.

·                    Proficiency in record keeping, and performance in QA function.

·                    Bachelors or AA Degree in food science or related field preferred.

·                    HACCP certified, and proficient in developing/maintaining HACCP plan.

·                    Good organizational and communication skills.

·                    Energetic - able to work up to 16 hours per day, 7 days per week

·                    Must be able to live and work in confined quarters.

·                    Employment eligibility contingent upon satisfactory completion of a drug screen test.
