Surimi
What is surimi?
Surimi is fish protein. Through a manufacturing process, either
at sea or in shore plants, the fish is refined to recover the fish’s protein.
What does surimi look like?
Surimi or fish protein is a translucent, cream-colored paste
that is formed into 10kg blocks and frozen for future use to make surimi
seafood products.
What is a surimi seafood product?
A surimi seafood product is a product made by using surimi
along with other ingredients such as flavors, starches, etc. to make a product
that closely resembles a natural seafood product. The most common surimi
seafood product is imitation crabmeat.
How many people do you have at the plant?
We have a total of 120 employees at the plant.
What type of work would I do if hired?
We are a food manufacturing facility or a production facility.
You may weigh and batch ingredients, operate process equipment, weigh packages,
pack boxes. Etc.
How long will work last?
The Surimi Products Plant operates Monday – Friday, year round.
How many hours a day will I work?
We have two 8-hour production shifts, day and swing shift. We
have an 8 hr. sanitation shift from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
