In 1965, Bob Thorstenson, along
with a group of Petersburg fishermen and employees, founded Petersburg
Fisheries, a cannery that would later become Icicle Seafoods. Ever since,
fishermen have been an integral part of the success of the company. As Icicle
grew from it's roots in Petersburg, it was fishermen who drove the company's
expansion into virtually every fishing grounds in Alaska. Today, Icicle
Seafoods, Inc. buys nearly every species of seafood from Southeast Alaska to
Norton Sound and from Prince William Sound to Adak.
Operationally, Icicle's fishing fleets are managed from distinct regions, with
fleet managers based in the following locations:
(1) Southeast
Alaska/Petersburg,
(2) Central Alaska/Homer,
(3) Western Alaska/Dillingham. This site is designed to provide useful
information to the various fleets in these areas. By clicking on one of the
above regions, you will find news pertaining to operational plans for each
area, as well as pertinent news, when available, from the Alaska Department of
Fish and Game and the Board of Fisheries. You will also find links to related
sites around the internet that should prove informative and hopefully useful to
your fishing operation. Finally, there is contact information to help you find
the appropriate person at each location to contact, and a feedback section so
you can easily send us your thoughts. Again, welcome, good luck, and good
fishing.
